The North East Autism Society is the largest specialist provider of services and support for almost 400 children, young people and adults affected by autism in the region. This includes two schools, a college and enterprise centre, a supported employment programme, residential care, short-breaks, therapy and family development and support. Additionally NE-AS provide training for employers to help to create opportunities for people with autism. With increasing demand for their services, they applied to us for help to fund the build of 4 bespoke, fully accessible 4-bed lodges to provide respite care for disabled people - one will be specifically designed to meet the needs of individuals with physical disabilities. The new lodges will sit alongside their existing two and will be utilised for respite and holiday lettings. ACT were pleased to be able to pledge a donation of £10K.
